We know that finishing of wooden beds get fad with time. You
need to refinish them so that you may get a fresh and appealing look. But refinishing
wooden beds is not so easy; you need to look upon some critical points. These beds
have a special coating of varnish to protect the wood from scratches, cuts and
stains. To refinish your bed you first need to remove this glossy layer. You should
have a proper know how of particular materials so that you may protect wood and
surroundings from the stains; otherwise you will end you work with permanent
stains that will not remove.

instructions to be followed when you are at a mission of refinishing. Have a

- First of all, remove the bedding and mattress from the bed frame very carefully and place them far from the place where you are going to do the work.
- Clean the wooden bed with ordinary soap or dish washer. Use soft rag to clean out the bed.
- After applying soap or dishwasher you must clean it with damp cloth to remove the soap properly. Let the bed dry for a full day; be patient.
- You need to sand your bed using a palm sander. The sandpaper should be off 120-grit. Sand the bed until the finishing of bed gets dull. Focus on corners and edges specially.
- Change your sand paper and use a 220-grit sand paper. Sand the bed again until and unless the wood finish gets off and the wood grain becomes smoother.
- Clean out the sawdust from your bed; use a tack cloth to wipe out the dust.
- You need to apply professional tape, which painters use, to the places you do not need to refinish. Then place a plastic sheet on the floor and cover it with a cloth sheet. Plastic sheet will not let drops of paint pour on your floor while cloth sheet will give you bed a smoother platform to be placed. Place your bed on the cloth sheet.
- Obtain a paint brush that is specially designed to apply oil paints. Apply oil based stain on the bed using this paint brush. Use a clean cloth rag to remove the excessive stain from the bed. Wait for 4-5 hours so that stained bed gets dry.
- Use mineral spirits to wash out the stain from the paint rush. Your paint brush must be properly clean before you use it to apply coat of some other material.
- After cleaning the brush, apply a coat of varnish to the stained bed frame. You must wait for 6-7 hours to let the varnish dry; after that you may replace the bedding and mattress.
